Jurassic World Dominion: The Reunion Cannot Carry Everything
Bringing the original cast back together gives Dominion something Dan, Cayla, and Matt want to enjoy. Matt does think the returning performers seem to be having a good time. His frustration is that the story around them does not give the reunion the sense of culmination he expected.
Dan responds more positively when the film returns to a contained complex with systems, defenses, and the familiar illusion of human control. That setting recovers a recognizable Jurassic tension for him. Dinosaurs moving freely through a wider world are an interesting idea, but the film does not always turn that idea into the experience he wants.
The group notices welcome creature returns and moments of fun, yet the overall question remains: what has changed by the end? Matt struggles to feel that the adventure accomplishes enough to justify its presentation as a major conclusion.
His second viewing is more entertaining, partly because the expectations are gone. That is an honest qualification, though hardly a complete defense. A movie can become easier to enjoy once it no longer has to deliver the film you hoped for, while still leaving the original disappointment intact.
Did the cast reunion give Dominion enough emotional payoff for you? What would a satisfying conclusion to this franchise actually need to resolve?
