RV: The Jokes Differ, but Robin Williams Connects the Group
RV gives the group plenty of comic incidents to remember, from the messier physical jokes to the impossible family-trip situations. Seth's memories include the sheer fun of Robin Williams emerging from the water with a bicycle, the sort of image a child might immediately want to imitate.
Cayla's response is more moderate. Some characters irritate her, and the film does not become a favorite. Yet she appreciates having Williams at the center, especially when a speech near the end feels sincere rather than merely designed to produce another joke. She gives it six out of ten.
Dan identifies the common ground: everyone has some emotional connection to Williams's work. That affection does not make every film equally successful, but it creates a shared starting point even when the humor lands differently.
The episode becomes partly a conversation about what a performer brings with him. A broad comedy can offer silly situations while carrying the memory of other roles, other moments, and the sense of a person the audience has been glad to spend time with.
Which part of RV works better for you: the physical chaos or Williams's warmer moments? Can affection for an actor make a modest comedy worth revisiting?
