Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: Entertaining, with Afterlife Still in Mind

Matt heads into Frozen Empire with affection for Ghostbusters: Afterlife and some uncertainty about what comes next. His quick reaction after the screening lands between enthusiasm and disappointment: there is enough here to enjoy, but expecting another Afterlife is likely to make the experience harder to appreciate.

The performances give him something to hold onto. He likes McKenna Grace, remains positive about Finn Wolfhard, and especially values Paul Rudd's comedy. Rudd's presence is the element he credits with carrying the movie from beginning to end.

Matt also acknowledges a split in what longtime fans may take away. Some of the material is clearly built to please them; other choices did not work as well for him. He does not turn that mixed response into a rejection. His conclusion is that Frozen Empire can still provide an entertaining watch if the earlier film is not used as an expectation it must match at every turn.

Did Frozen Empire work for you on its own terms, or was Afterlife the comparison you could not shake? Which character gave you the strongest reason to stay with it?
