Wonka Trailer: Matt's Enthusiasm Meets a New Interpretation
Matt arrives at the Wonka trailer already excited about Timothée Chalamet. He traces that interest back to Beautiful Boy, making this reaction partly a conversation about following an actor into unfamiliar territory.
The trailer also raises questions about the film's musical identity. How much will it sing and dance, and how will this younger version connect with the character viewers already know? Those possibilities matter more here than a final judgment anyone could make before seeing the movie.
The pleasure is in hearing expectations form in real time. A recognizable role brings its own baggage, while an actor Matt enjoys gives him a reason to be open to another interpretation.
What did you need from a younger Wonka: a connection to an earlier performance or a character who could stand on his own?
